VEIN BY HELEN ACKLAM

Vein was shot over the course of a year-long creative partnership with Bristol-based painter and sculptor, Helen Acklam. The film was exhibited in a public exhibition in January 2024, featuring additional sound and 3D sculpture work from myself and musician, Courtney Beckford (Yuseemi). It was described as 'a eulogy for the shifting Welsh land and earth - told through the lens of an artist's personal grief'. As the director, I tried to employ a wide range of technologies, exploring ways to revision the landscape through both classic and cutting-edge filmmaking techniques. Machine-learning, for example, was used to create these dystopian sequences of the landscape collapsing in on itself.
